Lotte Young Plaza, next to the Lotte Department Store. Lotte is a major brand in Korea, up there with LG and Samsung. Like many of these super companies, they have their hands in everything, from food, to stores like these. Print KOR3B-46-017

Ingwansan mountain, just North West of central Seoul. One of the great things about Seoul visually and energetically, is that it's virutually surrounded by mountains. This shot was taken near the north end of Insadong. For years I wondered what was up on that ridge. I imagined monks and temples. When I finally hiked it, no monks, but a few shamanism temples. Cheonggyecheon, the artificial river of central Seoul. Artificial or not, this is a great place to dip your feet in the hotter months. It's crazy how you can walk down these steps and actually feel like you've put on foot outside the city, despite being in the heart of downtown. I love walking here. Print KOR3B-46-027

Itaewon, foreigner district of Seoul, South of Namsan. Until a recent shift of personel, the US Military was the primary shaping force of this neighbourhood, just around the corner from Yongsan Military Base. Historically, however, it was actually originated by the Japanese during thier occupation of Korea, pre WWII, and many of the buildings on the base were constructed by the Japanese military.
